The Angle Vale Foxes Women’s A Grade play in Division 4 FFSA League and are looking for another strong title push for season 2023.

Cup Round #4

Angle Vale Foxes Women’s A Grade vs Croydon FC

Date: 15th June 2023

Location: Away

The weekend started with the A Grade Women taking on Croydon Thursday night in the cup. It was a tough game against a quality side which saw the Foxes go down 2 – 0 and fall out of the cup.

The game under lights on the newly developed Croydon ground was a rare experience for the Foxes, and they started off excellently with the first 15 mins played and controlled by the Foxes.

A few early chances were spurred but no real clear cut chances would come in the early stages for either team.

As the game progressed on the Croydon team would start to string their passes together and get their game plan going and start moving into the wide spaces and looking for balls into the Foxes box to cause problems.

It would be Croydon who would score the first goal of the game with a rare defensive mistake from Captain Tamika causing the Croydon striker to run at Kiara in goals and slot past her to give them a 1 – 0 lead.

10 minutes later and the Foxes would find themselves 2 – 0 down with a great ball into the box from Croydon falling in the 6 yard box and a scramble which didn’t get cleared would eventually be tapped home by the Croydon striker.

Half time would come around and the Foxes would change up their game plan and lean heavily into a counter attack style.

This would help them stop the overloads out wide from Croydon and in turn create a few chances of their own. A Flashing shot from Rhi would go wide and a over the top ball to Nikiia would also go wide later in the game.

But it was a rare defensive mistake from Croydon which would yield the best chance for the Foxes to score and Nikiia would find herself 1 on 1 with the keeper and he shot would beat he keeper but bounce of the post and come out.

This would sum up the day for the Foxes it was a tough battle against a quality opposition and the result would see the Foxes end their cup run.

GOAL SCORERS:

N/A

The Foxes will be looking for a 3rd straight win in the league this Sunday against Pontian Eagles and look to continue their push up the table.

League Round #7

Angle Vale Foxes Women’s A Grade vs Barossa United

Date: 28th May 2023

Location: Away

Early morning 9am kick off at Barossa what could be better than that.

An early morning 9am win that’s whats better and that’s what the Foxes achieved Sunday morning out on the Astro pitch at Barossa.

The game would start under rainy and cold conditions on the Astro pitch and it would take the Foxes a bit of time to get used to the flat pitch and skid of the ball but once they learnt how to control the ball, they would then go on to control the early part of the game with the Foxes creating a bunch of chances on the break from wide positions with Nikiia gong close 2 or 3 times in the early moments only to put her shots wide.

It would be Rhi who would find the break through with her collecting the ball outside the box and smashing a low and hard shot into the far post going underneath the keeper.

This would give the Foxes control of the game with Barossa trying to get back level and opening themselves up and allowing more chances for the Foxes that they were unable to capitalize on.

Jordy would come closest next with her breaking through 1 on 1 with the Barossa keeper and she would sit her down and put her shot past her only to see it bounce off the post and out.

This lack of conviction infront of goal would eventually come back to cost the Foxes with the Barossa midfielder getting free at the top of the box from a Barossa corner after losing her marker and her long range shot would go through a pack of players and find its way past Kiara in goals and bring the game back level.

The half time break the Foxes would regather themselves and look to push on into the 2nd half and finish off the game strong and regain the lead.

And the Foxes work rate would be the difference between the 2 teams with the Foxes working harder all over the pitch and tackling harder and putting in effort all over the pitch.

The changing point of the game would be when Rhi and the Barossa goal keeper would go into a 50/50 tackle inside the box, Rhi would not pull out of her chance and the keeper would come sliding out and a big collision would occur which would force both players to come off injured after they both threw themselves at the tackle with everything they had.

The Foxes would not let Rhi’s injury be in vain with the Barossa goal keeper being changed the Foxes would start to unload more shots and put more pressure on the Barossa backline.

The difference between the 2 teams would turn out to be a lucky Shot cross from Nikiia that would float in over the keeper at the back post and give the Foxes the lead once again.

This would prove to be the difference between the Foxes and Barossa on a cold wet day where the foxes had the better chances but struggled to take them.

GOAL SCORERS:

Rhiannon Windebank

Nikiia Frencken

The result gives the Foxes 3 wins in a row and has put their season back on track with them trough to the next round of the cup and now up to mid table in the league.

The Foxes now have a couple weeks break to recover from injuries and get ready for their next batch of fixtures.

League Round #6

Angle Vale Foxes Women’s A Grade vs Playford Patriots

Date: 19th May 2023

Location: The Den

The Foxes A Grade girls would go into this game knowing exactly what they were expecting to face after playing Playford a week earlier in the cup. The girls would take that experience and put their hard work on the training ground into effect coming away 4 – 0 winners.

The game would start under a cloud of mist which set across the field making visibility to the other end of the field limited.

The cold weather and limited vision wouldn’t affect the Foxes though with the control of the game completely in the hands of the Foxes.

They would create multiple chances but were struggling to put the ball in the back of the net.

The first half would see Tamika, Emma, Nikiia and Sophie all go close to scoring but just unable to put the quality in the finish needed.

After a 2nd half chat and some minor changes and motivation the Foxes would go out on the field and take complete control of the game.

Sophie would step up her forward pressure to a whole new level causing the Playford defense to crumble and make mistakes which would lead to the first goal of the game with the Playford defense turning the ball over and a perfect pass from Emma to Nikiia would set her through 1 on 1 with the keeper and she would make no mistake with the finish.

It would not take long for a 2nd goal to come with Sophie stealing the ball from the Playford CB and cutting her way inside the box only to be cleaned up by the other CB and win a penalty for her team.

Nikiia would step up in the fog all confident and would tuck the penalty in the bottom left hand corner giving the keeper no chance.

The Foxes would pile on a couple more goals with some excellent defensive work from Tamika and Taylah converting a defensive transition into attack that would land with Emma and she would take a shot and put the ball into the Right hand corner giving the foxes a 3 – 0 lead.

Towards the end of the game substitute Simone would come on and take advantage of a defensive mistake by Playford again caused by Sophie’s forward pressure and she would tuck her shot past the keeper rounding out a great Friday night for the Foxes.

GOAL SCORERS:

Nikiia Frencken – 2 Goals

Emma Raschella – 1 Goal

Simone Garrard – 1 Goal

The win moves the Foxes up the table and as they head away to Barossa they will be looking for 3 wins in a row and continue their good run of form.

Cup Round #3

Angle Vale Foxes Women’s A Grade vs Playford Patriots

Date: 14th May 2023

Location: The Den

The girls went into the game searching for their first win of the season and they came away with the 1 – 0 win after a gigantic performance with a bare minimum 11 players.

The Foxes would go into the game severly depleted with numbers and would go looking for their first win of the season against a foe that will be familiar in the coming weeks.

The game started off excellently for The Foxes with the control and lionshare of possession and shots in the early part of the game.

But it would be the from a corner the Foxes would find success with a great corner from Georgie in her last game of the Foxes.

Nikiia and Tamika would be floating at the back post and it was a header from Nikiia that would ultimately be stopped on the line by Tamika accidently but eventully fumbled into the goal from the Playford defenders that would break the deadlock.

The Foxes would continue to create chances during the first half but the lead would stay 1 – 0.

After the break with the foxes having no substitutes to be able to swap with and get some rest the game would slow down and space would start to open up for Playford.

An excellent save from Kiara would ensure the scoreline would stay the same and despite a couple ofchances for the Foxes one of which Sophie would find herself 1 on 1 with the keeper but unable to put it past her to seal the lead.

It would be a 1 – 0 win for the girls that would see them get their first win of the season and move them into teh 4th round of the cup.

GOAL SCORERS:

Nikiia Frencken

The Win moves the Foxes into the 4th round of the cup with the draw to be announced sooon.

This Friday night will see the Foxes take on Playford again in the league and look to make it 2 wins over them and get their league season on track.

League Round #5

Angle Vale Foxes Women’s A Grade vs Northern Demons

Date: 7th May 2023

Location: Away

The girls would take the long trip to Port Pirie looking for another good effort after their great fight with top of the table Ingle Farm the week prior.

But the result would come out differently then the Foxes had hoped going down 1 – 0 in an ultimately dominant display.

The girls would start the game fast and create a few good chances with the Foxes forward line causing the Northern Demons defense a bunch of problems.

But the luck would evade the Foxes again in the game and would ultimately see the Foxes exert a lot of effort but unable to convert their chances.

Northern Demons would break away from the Foxes midfield and get off what would be their only shot on target all game and they would manage to score from it disheartening the Foxes.

The second half would see the Foxes rally and look better and look to get back on the front foot and create a bunch of half chances but nothing that would stick.

The best chance of the game would fall to Rhi the Foxes striker who would do everything right but just couldn’t get the bounce to sit right and finish the chance.

The girls would put in a great effort after their long trip all the way up to Northern demons but would come away with 0 points and be looking for revenge at their home ground when they face eachother again.

GOAL SCORERS:

The foxes now turn their attention to their Round 3 cup match against Playford at home on Saturday and a big week on the training park to prepare for a solid hitout against a tough team they will face in twice in 2 weeks.

League Round #4

Angle Vale Foxes Women’s A Grade vs Ingle Farm

Date: 28th April 2023

Location: The Den

After a tough start to the season the foxes girls came out with the fight and dedication their coach had been asking for. Taking their first points of the season and against the top of the table undefeated Ingle Farm team.

Before the whistle had even been blown for the first kick-off the foxes were locked in, their week of preparation for this game highlighted just how far they have come in a few weeks.

From the first minute of the game the Foxes pressured the Ingle Farm girls all over the pitch, tackling hard and putting them under pressure.

Although the effort was there the chances for the foxes were very scarce. They struggled to hit targets with their passes and get out of their defensive half.

If it wasn’t for a couple of the Foxes throwing themselves at shots and blocking everything that came near the goal the halftime scoreline could have been drastically different.

After all the effort of the first half and running all over The Den the Foxes went in 0 – 0.

After a brutal half time team talk from their coach preaching about desire, dedication, effort and control the Foxes turned up in the 2nd half with a whole new level of effort.

This new level pushed the Ingle Farm girls back into their own half and eventually chances started to come for the Foxes with Dayna playing a blinder of a game.

It was her pressure on a seemingly lost cause of a ball which the keeper made a mistake on and she then stole from her and converted into the back of the net to give the Foxes a 1 – 0 lead.

After this goal went in the Ingle Farm girls stepped it up a whole new level of speed and intensity but the Foxes girls would throw themselves into every tackle, and stand up against the Top of the table team.

With the Foxes Backline and Goal Keeper shutting down multiple chances, but eventually the backline of the foxes was breached late in the game to draw the game level.

But the last 10 minutes of the game the Foxes dug even deeper and kept the Ingle Farm girls out and would end the game with a 1 – 1 draw against the best team in the league.

This is a massive result for the Foxes who had yet taken a point all season and this game will kick start their season.

GOAL SCORERS:

Dayna Duka

This result & Effort must be followed up by the foxes this weekend as they head all the way to Port Pirie to take on Northern Demons.
This is where the Foxes start to pull points together and position themselves for the rest of the season.

League Round 2

Angle Vale Foxes Women’s A Grade vs Croydon FC

Date: 31st March 2023

Location: The Den

The Women’s A Grade were looking to improve upon their Round 1 defeat and with their first home game of the season it was the perfect opportunity to do just that. Unfortunately, a Spectacular Free Kick and a Penalty turned out to be the Foxes undoing.

The game started off at a frantic pace as the Foxes defense was under bombardment from the get go of the game.

After a few good shots on target from the Corydon team which Kiara the foxes goal keeper handled excellently he game remained 0-0.

Despite the Foxes starting to turn the game into their favor by controlling the ball, playing to feet and utilizing the wide spaces with amazing efficiency.  They were unable to convert a chance into a goal narrowly missing a couple times.

By half time the Foxes went in 0 – 0 with both teams cancelling eachother out, the Foxes work through the last few training sessions of closing down space and players was turning out to work perfectly with the Croydon striker kept quite all half.

The second half brought about a change in the style of play from both teams with both Croydon and the Foxes creating chances in quick succession but it was a Direct free kick about 25 yards out from goal that Croydon managed to convert into the far top corner excellently that broke the deadlock, Kiara the Foxes goal keeper was just too small and unable to reach the ball and keep it from sailing into the top corner of the net.

But the Foxes wouldn’t be behind for long with a quickly and perfectly taken free kick from the backline which caught the Croydon defense flat and not paying attention which allowed Georgie to run 1 on 1 with the keeper and pass the ball into the goal off the inside of the left post.

From this point the Foxes started to create the better chances with Shikira, Taya and Chloe running rampant down the outside of the Croydon defense and getting on goal multiple times just being unable to convert their chances into a goal.

Late in the 2nd half a poorly defender wide play allowed for Croydon to smash a ball into the box of the Foxes where the resulting shot was hit close range towards Laura’s face where instinctively she put her hands up and gave away a penalty.
This was slotted home by the Croydon Striker and left the foxes with a mountain to climb in the final minutes.

Where it almost seemed like they managed to do it as Shikira ran 1 on 1 with the keeper and put a ball to the back post which Nikiia was unable to get on the end of and convert to bring the scores back level and then in the final minutes of the game Georgie broke through the back line again and was running 1 on 1 with the keeper and pulled the trigger just to early and gave the keeper a chance to save her shot.

The end result was a disappointing one going down 2 – 1 but ultimately it was a sharp improvement from the Girls from their first games performance and as their season goes into a week break, they will be looking to hit the training ground and continue to work on their play to get themselves into the winner’s circle for the first time this season.

GOAL SCORERS:

Georgie Wilson

After the Easter break the girls head away to Barossa United Sunday Morning and will be looking for their first win of the season.

League Round 1

Angle Vale Foxes Women’s A Grade vs Salibsury Sharks

Date: 25 March 2023

Location: Salisbury Sharks

It was the start of the season for the Division 4 Girls this weekend and it was a rough start against a solid Salisbury Sharks team going down 3 – 1 in the end.

The Girls started off the game really strong matching the Salisbury Sharks possession and attacks, but it was a midfield lapse that allowed the sharks midfielder free to have a distance shot and put it over the Foxes Keeper in the 15th minute.

After some adjustments the Foxes found their feet again and started to string some short passing interplay together and managed to pull back level just before half time thanks to Georgie Wilson finishing off a great run and shot on target by Shikira.

The half time whistle came and the Sharks were able to readjust their game plan and another moment occurred in the game where the Foxes midfield let their main weapon be free outside the 18 yard box and she was able to convert another long range effort which was then quickly followed up by a fast counter attack to make it 3 – 1 in the 70th minute.

It was a rough start to the season against a very solid Salisbury Sharks team that had a dangerous weapon that was unable to be shut down in the game.

Salisbury Sharks 3-1 Foxes

The Foxes now lineup this Friday night at 7:30PM against Croydon FC looking to get on the winners list early and build for a good season ahead.
