League Round #18

Angle Vale Foxes Men’s B Grade vs Zomi United

Date: 9th September 2023

Location: Away

LEAGUE RUNNERS UP!!!
The Saturday B Grade went into the game against Zomi United needing a win to take 2nd spot off their opponents and get a runner up medal after a great season only losing 2 games all year.

The Foxes played an amazing game and despite a late scare from Zomi who started to come home strong the foxes came away with the 5- 3 win to secure 2nd place on the table.

The Foxes started the game the strongest like they have done all year and would get off to a great start with Aidan sticking his chipped shot over the Zomi keeper in goals giving the Foxes a big confidence boost in the game which they would capitalize on.

Calab would go on to double the lead 10 minutes later when his tame shot would confuse the special Zomi keeper who would fall down and let the ball roll between his legs.

Another few minutes would pass and it would be a Lucas corner that would float to the back post where Corey’s header would find Luc who would header his shot to the far post over the keeper.

This would round out an excellent first half for the Foxes who would head in 3 -0 up and flying full of confidence.

The 2nd half would start strong as well with the Foxes winning a penalty early on in the 2nd half and Remmie would make no mistake slotting his shot past the keeper.

And 8 minutes after that an Aidan long throw would find Liam at the edge of the box and his excellently hit shot would find the top corner and completely silence the Zomi sidelines.

But this is where the game would turn on its head, Zomi would throw on some of their A Grade player to try and salvage the game and it would be an instant impact from their striker that would cause the Foxes problems and it would lead to a Penalty for Zomi which he would step up and convert to spark some life into the Zomi team.

And within 3 minutes he would be on the scoresheet again with his long-range effort flying in over Michael in goals.

And another 2 minutes later he would take a big run down the outside of the Foxes defense and find himself inside the Box and finish front post to bring the score back to 5 – 3.

But the Foxes had built a big enough buffer and the time had run out for Zomi to get any more goals and the final whistle would announce the Foxes as runners up for the Reserves Saturday Division 4.

GOAL SCORERS:

Calab Meyer – 1 Goal

Aidan Jones- 1 Goal

Luc Dupond- 1 Goal

Liam Fletcher- 1 Goal

Remmie Schliwa- 1 Goal

It was a great game and an even better season for the Foxes, who’s first year existing would see them finish 2nd only behind the dominant One Tree Hill Team. It was a tough season with the team changing almost every weekend but everyone that would come in would do their part and help the Foxes along the way.

League Round #17

Angle Vale Foxes Men’s B Grade vs BIH United

Date: 2nd September 2023

Location: The Den

Its coming down to the final game of the season for the Foxes B Grade after a dominant 6-0 win over BIH united to lock in a final day clash against Zomi for 2nd place on the table.

The Foxes kicked off the game full of confidence playing the ball around the pitch like they have done all season and it wouldn’t take them long to capitalize on their dominance of the ball with Calab scoring form close range to get the Foxes ahead.

This would start the ball rolling in what would turn out to be a 5-goal game for Calab.

The 2nd goal would be a great bit of build up play and Lucas out wide would cause his defender all kinds of problems and find himself laying

The 3rd would take a little longer to come for the Foxes with a great ball in behind the BIH Defense and Calab would get to the ball first before the keeper and his touch would land at his feet and he would finish near post before the defender could stop him. He would proceed to celebrate with his trademark skullet shake.

The Foxes would go in at half time 3 – 0 up and cruising with their speed all over the pitch causing BIH issues while the Foxes defense held firm and were in the heads of the BIH attackers.

The 2nd half could continue much like the first half with the Foxes flooding forward and creating a plethora of chances.

And it wouldn’t take long for Calab to continue his scoring ways getting another in the 50th minute with Zac playing a perfect pass between the BIH defense for Calab to run onto a slot past the stranded keeper in goals.

After a raft of changes from the bench it would be club icon and all-round excellent club man Dan who would find the back of the net next with one of his first touches.

Tyson would chase down a long ball and square the ball perfectly for Dan to hit past the BIH Keeper and register his 2nd goal of the year.

The day would be rounded out with Calab registering his 5th goal with Tyson putting a great ball into his path and Calab would side foot it over the keeper who decided to have a lay down before the shot was even taken.

GOAL SCORERS:

Calab Meyer – 5 Goals

Dan Mather – 1 Goal

It was another great performance in a season full of excellent ones. Calab registered the 3rd 5 goal haul across the club this season stepping up in a huge game for the Foxes.
The result will see the Foxes take the battle to Zomi United on the last game of the season with a over their rivals being the only result that will give the Foxes a well-deserved 2nd place finish.

League Round #15

Angle Vale Foxes Men’s B Grade vs FC Summit

Date: 19th August 2023

Location: The Den

The Saturday Reserves are having a great season with an excellent 5-1 win over FC Summit a team that managed to come back last time and steal a 5-5 draw against them.

The Foxes would get off to the perfect start in the game within 10 Minutes a Junior long throw would find Tyson in the box and his turn and left foot scoop shot would lop the keeper and find itself in the net at the back post in what is probably Tysons best goal of the season so far.

And I wouldn’t take long for the Foxes to double their lead with some slick interplay between Riley and Amer up top with Amer sending a perfect first-time ball in behind the FC Summit defense for Riley to run 1 on 1 with the keeper and finish past him.

Another 10 mins would go by and another Foxes goal would be score and this one would be the best of the day with some composed play out from the back with Old Man Jonsey playing a nice pass into the midfield for Amer to play a first time pass down the left flank for Riley to run onto and play a great ball in behind the defense for Lucas to square in the box for Caleb to run onto and finish first time past the FC Summit keeper.

It was a perfect piece of play and an excellent finish and highlights exactly how good the Foxes have been this year with their ball movement.

The 2nd half would start with FC Summit getting a penalty and they would make no mistake in converting it and then the flash backs of the away fixture would come back for the Foxes but it would not be the case this time round with the Foxes composing themselves and getting back on the scoresheet again.

It would be another Elliott free kick that would find the back of the net and in typical fashion it would have to be a decent strike coupled with some luck to see the ball go over the line.

Finally, to round out the day a goal keeping howler would gift Junior a goal on the weekend but it was the build up play that created it all. With a Junior cross into the box being dropped and basically thrown into the goal.

It was a great day for the Reserves who continued their winning ways and great season.

GOAL SCORERS:

Aidan Jones – 1 Goal

Tyson Gill – 1 Goal

Riley Joslin – 1 Goal

Calab Meyer – 1 Goal

Elliott Were – 1 Goal

The result see’s the Foxes equal 2nd on the table with Zomi United, with 3 games left to play in the season. The final game of the season is against Zomi United and should the Foxes collect 2 more wins before then it looks like a final game of the season showdown for 2nd place is on for the Foxes.

League Round #12

Angle Vale Foxes Men’s B Grade vs One Tree Hill

Date: 22nd July 2023

Location: Away

The Saturday B Grade went into this weekends game knowing it will be a tough slog against a very difficult One tree Hill team that beat them 10-1 last time the 2 teams met.

This weekend the B Grade would put up a solid fight and come away with a 5 – 0 loss but a stark improvement on their previous result.

The B Grade would kick off and immediately find themselves under pressure with the OTH team dominating the ball and possession.

Within the first few minutes they would unload a few chances on goal and Young Jett in goals would struggle to keep them out.

The first half would be one of defensive work with the Foxes having to repel wave after wave of attacks with Jonesy & Elliott working overtime to put in defensive blocks and clearances to do their best to keep the ball out of the net.

Half time the Foxes would go in 4 – 0 down and it would be a talking to by coach Mark asking for the Foxes to keep it tight for the 2nd half.

And that’s exactly what the Foxes did with only 1 final goal getting past young Jett in goals in the 79th minute.

It was a tough slog for the Foxes but it was a positive sign to see how hard they fought to stop an exceptional OTH team.

GOAL SCORERS:

N/A

It was a tough match for the foxes against the top of the table OTH team. But with this game out the way the Foxes can spin back their focus to getting back to winning ways against Prince Alfred in a couple weeks’ time.

League Round #11

Angle Vale Foxes Men’s B Grade vs Southern Breakers

Date: 15th July 2023

Location: The Den

The Saturday B Grade were looking t get back to winning ways after a disappointing draw last game out and they did exactly that.

With a mixed-up team which was the story of the weekend for all teams due to the number of injuries plaguing the club currently it would be the old guys that are still standing that would come up clutch and give the Foxes the deserved win.

The game would start with the Foxes in control of the game from the first whistle with the oldest backline in history taking the field for the foxes with Ryan, Elliott and Jonesy Senior combining for a total age of 128.

But their experience would be what would give the Foxes the stranglehold in the game with the Southern Breakers forward line unable to break past the old wall.

The Foxes would get on the score sheet first through the youngest of the old backline with Elliott hitting freekick from outside the box and it would get through the mess of people inside the 18yard box and end up over the line for his 2nd goal of the season.

The Foxes would continue to push forward and create chances and it would be another Old Fox hat would end up on the score sheet for the first time this season with Scott tapping home a finish at the back post after some excellent work down the wing from Calab, Tyson and Dan linking up.

After a Scott goal the Foxes have never lost and the streak was not going to be broken against the Southern Breakers despite the weather turning bad and the Demons of Hell trying to rise up and end the world after seeing such the rare sight of Scott scoring.

And the 2nd half would finish off the game with the Foxes continuing their dominance but struggling to put the ball in the goal after creating a batch of chances.

But an Aidan Jones long throw to the other long throw expert Tyson would find his head in the box and he would knock home the 3rd and seal the Foxes win and their return to the top 3 of the table.

GOAL SCORERS:

Tyson Gill – 1 Goal

Scott Harris – 1 Goal

Elliott Were – 1 Goal

This weekend see’s the Foxes head away to One Tree Hill where they will be looking to put on a better performance than the last outing against the top of the table team where they went down 10-1.

Should the Foxes get the win they will close the gap to OTH and could be very well on fighting for a top spot in the closing weeks of the season.

League Round #10

Angle Vale Foxes Men’s B Grade vs Old Ignatians

Date: 1st July 2023

Location: Away

A game of 2 halves for the B Grade Foxes is the best way to describe this weekends result. The Foxes would take away a 3-3 draw after a bright start but struggled to finish off the second half.

The game would start off perfectly for the Foxes with a Jason shot finding the back of the net with seemingly the first meaningful attack of the game.

A cross that turned into a shot would fly past the Old Ignatians keeper and catch him stunned and give the Foxes the greatest start they could have hoped for.

This would give the Foxes the control in the game and they would create waves of attacks on the Old Ignatians goal but would be unable to convert their chances.

That would be until the 30th minute when Jason would find himself in a great position in behind the Iggy’s defense and would make no mistake with his finish and score again to double the Foxes lead.

Only a couple minutes later the Foxes would score again and it would be Calab who would be on the end of a cutback finish to give the Foxes a commanding lead in the game.

But Old Ignatians weren’t dead yet and would peg a goal back in the 40th minute to give them hope heading into Half Time.

After a half time team talk and some changes the Old Ignatians team would come out a completely different unit and would put the Foxes under a lot of pressure.

The 60th minute would see an Old Ignatians attack turn into a goal and half the Foxes lead and compound the pressure on the Foxes.

Despite making a bunch of chances the Foxes would be unable to convert them into goals again and this would eventually cost them 2 points with another Iggy’s attack causing a mistake at the Foxes backline and they score their 3rd of the day.

This would be the result to end the game and hurt the Foxes charge towards the top of the table leaving them now 6 points off the top.

GOAL SCORERS:

Calab Meyer – 1 Goal

Jason Jones – 2 Goals

The result is less than ideal for the Foxes but better than a loss but it’s turning out to be these lost points will be the difference between 1st place and 3rd.

The Foxes now have a break this weekend and will look to get back on the training ground and get back their previous form heading into some of the tougher games of the season.

League Round #9

Angle Vale Foxes Men’s B Grade vs Zomi United

Date: 24th June 2023

Location: The Den

In what would turn out to be the only win of the weekend for the Foxes the Saturday B Grade continued their great season and off the back of beating the top of the table BIH united the week prior collected an excellent win over Zomi United.

The B Grade started off like they finished off last week with confidence and control on the ball from the first whistle.

The Foxes were the team pressing forward and creating chances and it would be the Foxes who would break the deadlock with another Liam set piece finding the back of the net, which is becoming a trademark of his season.

The control would persist with the Foxes over another freekick and who else but Liam lining up to take it, the ball would be floated in by Rylan after a quick discussion which would fall to Jason who would slot his shot under the keeper to give the Foxes the 2 – 0 lead.

With an early 2 – 0 lead the foxes would hold their defense tight for the rest of the half as they looked to go into half time.

After a half time team talk the Foxes came out with a renewed purpose and restored their control of, the ball creating some good chances but were unable to put them away like they had done earlier in the first half.

The best chance would fall to Aidan Jones very deep in the 2nd half where a Callum corner would find him at the back post free but he wouldn’t be able to bury his chance similar to how he did last week.

GOAL SCORERS:

Jason Jones – 1 Goal

Liam Lord – 1 Goal

The good run of form continued for the Saturday Reserves and has them now up 4 points from top spot and will be looking to close the gap in the coming weeks to One Tree Hill who are on top.

League Round #8

Angle Vale Foxes Men’s B Grade vs BIH united

Date: 17th June 2023

Location: Away

The Saturday games would start off well for the Foxes with BIH top of the league and the Foxes would go and dominate them on their own turf coming away 5 – 1 winners.

The game would start off excellent with the Foxes back at full strength welcoming back Ben from his injury in pre-season. The first 5 mins the Foxes would create a chance with Jareth rounding the keeper and looking for the cut bac to Ben before the BIH Defender would slide in and clear the ball before it found the back of the net.

It would only be a few more minutes before the Foxes would find the back of the net and it would be a great ball from Elliot to Ben and he would burn his defender 1 on 1 and run at the keeper and finish into the far post to give the Foxes the lead.

This would be the tale of the day with the forward line of Jareth Lucas and Ben tearing apart the BIH Defense.

The Foxes 2nd would come from some great passing play from the back line into the midfield which would find Jareth’s feet who would send the ball wide to Ben and he would slide in behind his defender and finish 1 on 1 with the keeper with a little toe poke finish.

Ben would finish off his hat-trick not to long later rounding out an excellent return to playing for him after his lengthy injury.

The game would be put to bed in the 2nd half with Jareth scoring another one of his standard tap ins after the BIH Defense failed to clear the ball from a corner and it would fall at his feet from a couple yards out which he would push past the keeper.

The Foxes would have 1 goal pegged back later in the half with BIH making a host of changes to try and get back in the game but the Foxes would hold out strong and keeper the BIH forwards away from the goal and would go on and make a chance for Liam to get in behind and finish past the BIH keeper and round out a great 5 – 1 win which pushes the Foxes closer to the top of the table and just 2 points off the lead.

GOAL SCORERS:

Ben Hutchins – 3 Goals

Jareth Stocker – 1 Goal

Liam – 1 Goal

The next game is a big one for the Foxes against Zomi who are 4th on the table and a win is a must for the Foxes if they wish to stay in touching distance of the top of the table.

League Round #2 (Catch up)

Angle Vale Foxes Men’s B Grade vs Southern Breakers

Date: 3rd June 2023

Location: Away

It was a long trip down South the longest of the season to play our Round 2 catch up game against Southern Breakers but the B Grade made the trip well worth it coming away 4 – 1 winners and continuing their great form.

The game started off with a flurry from the Foxes as they showed their speed, agility and youth across the park moving the ball out of the backline creating space and chances.

The effort on the training park is starting to show through with the Foxes style coming through nicely with controlled possession from the keeper and backline all the way to the forward line.

It would be the in-form Callum who would break the deadlock for the Foxes finishing off a quality chance that was built up from the team.

This would spark the Foxes to go into the next gear and turn up the pressure on the Southern Breakers team.

This pressure would result in a 2nd goal this time for Lachlan to get his first goal of the season from a corner that landed in the Box that he would smash home a horizontal volley into the roof of the net.

Half time would see the Foxes get a much-deserved rest and a refresh on the way they needed to approach the 2nd half of the game.

The Foxes would come out in the 2nd half with the same energy levels and aggressiveness as the first half and it wouldn’t be long before the Foxes would add a 3rd goal to their tally and a 2nd on the day for Callum.

The Foxes would make a rare mistake on the day and the Southern Breakers team would capitalize on this error and peg a goal back but it wouldn’t be for long with the Foxes straight back on the front foot and a Caleb goal would restore the 3-goal lead.

To end the game the Foxes would be awarded a penalty and young Byron would be charged wit stepping up to take it to score his first goal of the season.

But the shot would go straight to the keeper and the follow up would be knocked over the bar from Byron, Unlucky young lad it happens to even the oldest of us.

All in all, the trip was a worthwhile one for the Foxes coming away with another 3 points and setting up the 2nd half of their season nicely now sitting 4th on the table and 1 point off 2nd place.

GOAL SCORERS:

Callum Beddall – 2 Goals

Caleb Meyer – 1 Goal

Lachlan Howard – 1 Goal

The Foxes will have a break for the Long Weekend and look to attack round 8 as they look to inflict a first loss of the season for BIH United.

League Round #7

Angle Vale Foxes Men’s B Grade vs Esplanade FC

Date: 27th May 2023

Location: The Den

Saturday at the Den would prove to be a cold, wet and miserable day but the Foxes would fight all day and create an even split of chances on the day to come away with a 1 – 1 draw.

The game would start with a flurry of chances with both teams struggling in the wet conditions at the Den.

The best early chances would fall to the Esplanade with a long-range effort being hit and a great save from Jett keeping the game level.

The Foxes fundamentals of composed build up play from the back was in full display this game with a lot of the chances the Foxes would create coming from this form of buildup.

After a batch of chances for both teams not going in it would be the Foxes who would break the deadlock after 30 minutes.

A ball into the box from Reece would be mis controlled by Ryan seemingly spurring the chance created but his recovery ball back to the top of the box to Junior who would hit his shot first time would see it blocked by the defender in the 6-yard box only for his block to land at Joey’s feet and he would put the ball into the near post past the keeper and gave the Foxes the 1-0 lead.

But the lead would not last long with Esplanade getting level after less than 5 minutes, after a mistake from the Foxes defense turning the ball over in a dangerous area and the Esplanade winger would toe poke his shot under Jett and off the inside of the post.

After this the Foxes would sure up their defense and stop conceding chances and half time would come seeing both teams head in level.

After a chat at half time and a chance to dry off from the wet conditions the Foxes would come out with invigorated energy and would start off strong creating more attacking opportunities but unable to convert.

It would be a late save from Jett in goals from an Esplanade corner that would keep the Foxes level and allow both teams to walk away with a point each and continue the Foxes strong start to the season.

GOAL SCORERS:

Joey Sackey

The Foxes have started the season off quite well only losing 1 game a finding themselves in 4th place. The Foxes head away to Southern Breakers all the way down at port Elliott this weekend before the long weekend bye takes place.

League Round #6

Angle Vale Foxes Men’s B Grade vs FC Summit

Date: 20th May 2023

Location: Away

What a game this would turn out to be. After the long trip up the mountain to play against resilient FC Summit team.

The Foxes would start off quickly and show their youth and speed across the team creating a bunch of early chances.

Mark would be on the end of the first one finding himself 1 on 1 with the keeper where he would panic and shoot early and miss the goal.

The next chance would fall to Jason who would put his shot wide which would be followed up by a Jareth 1 on 1 miss where he would go for a chip instead of a easy finish.

These chances would soon be forgotten when the youngest player on the field Hudson would come up and show the older guys how its done and slot his shot under the keeper.

It would not be long before the 2nd goal would go in with Junior putting up one of his trademark long throws which would land in the lap of Jareth who would tuck the ball past the keeper.

Hudson would soon find himself on the end of a corner and smash home from close range and then not to much longer Callum would find himself on the end of another corner scramble and smash home his finish.

The Foxes thought an early 4 -0 lead would shut the FC Summit team down but a late goal in the first half would give them a glimmer of hope heading into the 2nd half.

And just like that the 2nd half FC Summit would come out firing. A quick fire 20 mins from FC Summit would see the score end up 4 -3 with not long left to play and the Foxes were unable to convert their chances with Callum going 1 on 1 with the keeper and missing his chance to effectively seal the game.

FC Summit would smell blood and convert another 2 chances and go up 5 – 4.
but a last minute penalty would fall to Coach Mark who would step up and smash his shot past the keeper to rescue a draw for the Foxes from a seemingly unlosable position.

GOAL SCORERS:

Hudson Ocampo – 2 Goals

Jareth Stocker – 1 Goal

Callum Beddall – 1 Goal

Mark Maserio – 1 Goal

The result wasn’t ideal for the Foxes, but it showed their never say die attitude, after leading by a healthy margin and then giving it up to pull back a last-minute goal would save the Foxes and give them a point on the road and probably the game of the round.

The Foxes are back home this weekend and up against Esplanade and looking to get back on the winners list and continue their great season.

League Round #5

Angle Vale Foxes Men’s B Grade vs Saint Peters

Date: 13th May 2023

Location: The Den

The Foxes would head into the St Peters game looking to continue their winning form and thats exactly what they would do coming away 3 – 1 winners but they would make their life difficult doing so.

The game would start off very much even with both teams spurring early chances with young Jett in goals for the B Grade making a few great scaves early on.

It wouldnt be until the 30th min the Foxes would find the back of the net with some slick forward passing that Rylan would start and ultimately finish as he dribbled into the box and would finish near post past the keeper to give the Foxes the lead.

A quick fire 2nd wouldnt be to far away with Reece collecting and recycling a free kick to Jonsey Senior who would drop a delicious cross into the box that jareth would latch on to but the keeper would make a great save with his feet but Jareth would finish the follow up to give the Foxes a 2 – 0 lead.

The score would remain this until half time where the Foxes would come out in the 2nd half and be in control until an incident on the field went down which resulted in Reece being red carded and leaving the Foxes short manned for the remainder of the 2nd half.

This would eventually be captialized on with St peters sinking a free kick and halving the lead.

But the Foxes would fight righ till the end with Jareth and Jason breaking away on a counter attack and a great cross from Jareth to Jason who would make no mistake in putting the ball in the goal and resoring the Foxes 2 goal lead.

GOAL SCORERS:

Jareth Stocker – 1 Goals

Ryla Mccullom – 1 Goal

Jason Jones – 1 Goal

The Foxes are on a 2 game winning streak and will look to continue this next week away at FC Summit.

League Round #4

Angle Vale Foxes Men’s B Grade vs Strathalbyn

Date: 6th May 2023

Location: Away

REDEMPTION – that is the keyword for the Saturday Reserves after their weekends result.

A massive 9 – 0 win over Strath made the long trip up their worth it and eradicated the weekend prior’s loss completely.

The game started off in a massive flurry with Jason getting on the score sheet within the 1st minute of the game from a Noah cutback across the box, and this tempo set the tone for the game.

The next 20 minutes would be a blitz from the Foxes with Jareth scoring a hattrick in 20 minutes from excellent team play.

The foxes were able to keep the ball and in possession and play the right passes through the lines of the Strath team and his finishing for the first 20 mins was on point finishing on both left and right feet.

It wouldn’t be long before Jareth had netted a 4th after rounding the keeper and slotting into an open net.

If not for his wayward finishing the scoreline would have been drastically higher.

The Foxes wouldn’t let up as they looked to redeem their previous weeks loss and it would be the substitute Dan who would score his first ever senior goal after going up top for Jareth and a great cut back from Jason would allow dan to tap home his goal and get the Foxes up and about in the Wet weather.

The half would continue to rain goals as well as the cold and wet weather with Elliott also getting his first senior goal for the Foxes after a great Liam freekick was saved but Elliott would be there to tap the ball in the net on the line.

The day would also be marked down as the day the first Foxes keeper would score a goal this season with Michael stepping up to take and convert his penalty making it 8 – 0 as half time came around.

After a half time break and team talk the Foxes went out and tried to play more high tempo football but the Strath team made a few changes and it would lead to them having a few chances on goal and forcing the Foxes backline to defend hard and keep their clean sheet intact.

A string of good saves from keeper Michael and some excellent defensive work from Jake and Jonsey would ensure the clean sheet would remain.

The game would be rounded out with the Strath keeper making a mistake with his clearance by kicking the ball into Jareth for him to collect and score in an open net for his 5th goal in the game which would mark the 2nd 5th goal haul for a Saturday B Grade striker and bring him level with Tyson in the leading scorer race for the team.

The effort was excellent from the Foxes for the whole 90 mins and this allowed them to eradicate the 9-goal loss in the game before and that was the aim for the day.

GOAL SCORERS:

Jareth Stocker – 5 Goals

Daniel Mather – 1 Goal

Michael Hardy – 1 Goal

Elliott Were – 1 Goal

Jason Jones – 1 Goal

The Foxes now head back home after their long journey and take on Prince Alfred and look to get back-to-back wins for the first time this season and setup their season.

It was an excellent effort from the Foxes this weekend and exactly the response they were looking for.

League Round #3

Angle Vale Foxes Men’s B Grade vs One Tree Hill

Date: 29th April 2023

Location: The Den

This result kicked of a rough Saturday for he Foxes Men’s teams with the Foxes getting blown out 10 -1 by a vastly superior One Tree Hill team.

The game started off excellently with the Foxes clearly the faster and more youthful team and it didn’t take the Foxes long to break through the one Tree Hill defense with Noah Murch getting his first goal of the season.

But this would be the only highlight of the game for the Reserve Saturday Foxes who had started their season off really well.

The One Tree Hill team would return the favor real quick bringing the scores back level and then would pile on another 4 in the first half to take a 4 – 1 lead into half time.

After a half time chat from the Foxes Coach the Foxes would come out with some new energy and direction, but this would not help them in their battle as the more experienced and dedicated One tree Hill team would just easily play their way through the disorganized Foxes team and the decimation would commence.

The Foxes would eventually go down 10 – 1 with the effort level, dedication and desire of the team completely dropping off.

These kinds of results are not what the Foxes stand for and this week the Foxes will be hard at work on the training ground to bridge the gap in quality between the 2 teams.

GOAL SCORERS:

Noah Murch

This weekend the Foxes look to head to Strathalbyn and get back on the winners list and redeem themselves from this weekends result.

League Round 1

Angle Vale Foxes Men’s B Grade vs Old Ignatians

Date: 15 April 2023

Location: The Den

It was the start of the league season we have all been waiting for with the Saturday B Grade kicking off the senior Saturday action.

And it couldn’t have gotten off to a better start with the guys coming away 5 – 2 winners at home to Old Ignatians.

The season couldn’t have gotten off to a better start with the Foxes taking on an older and more experienced opponent than Old Ignatians. The Foxes had all the early energy and run but it was Old Ignatians who had the control and positional discipline on the ball to dictate the tempo of the game.

But it was the Foxes who were dominant with veteran foxes forward Tyson banging in goals for fun, coming away on the day with a 5-goal haul.

It was a Jake Millar corner which got the Foxes off to a great start where Tyson was in the middle of all the chaos to tap the ball home.

Only a few minutes later he was ready for his 2nd with an early ball played into the box for him to get on the end of and make it a 2- 0 lead.

Right before the half time whistle though Old Iggys managed to pull one back and set the second half up for a great game.

A few half-time changes and the Foxes came out with rejuvenated legs and the youthfulness of the lads showed as they passed the ball around the older Iggy players and within 10 minutes of the 2nd half starting Tyson was on the score sheet again after a simple cutback in the box found his feet for an easy tap in.

The pressure kept mounting on the Old Ignatians defenders as an early ball into the box around the back of the defenders by Jareth found Tyson on the half volley and he smashed it into the net.

There was a brief moment of panic as a mix up at the back saw the Iggy’s striker get a shot away and put another one in the goal making it a 4 – 2 score line but if it wasn’t Tysons day already it sure turned out to be after he managed to get on the end of an excellent Hudson cross which found Tyson’s head which gave him his 5th on the day.

Cup Round 1

Angle Vale Foxes Men’s B Grade vs Adelaide Dragons

Date: 25 March 2023

Location: The Den

It was the first competitive game for a lot of teams this weekend with the Newly formed Saturday B Grade taking on division 3 side Adelaide Dragons in the cup.

It wasn’t a great first game on the field with just about everything that could go wrong going wrong and inflicting the Foxes with a Round 1 cup exit.

Round 1 of the Cup was always going to be a test for the newly formed Saturday Foxes squads especially coming up against a division higher team like the Adelaide Dragons.

the game started off rough with the Dragons pace causing the Foxes all kinds of issues with the Dragons able to run in behind of the Foxes defense multiple times over. It was the Off Side trap that managed to keep them quite but eventually the Dragons managed to bend their runs enough to stay onside and broke through the Foxes backline with a flurry of 3 goals in 5 mins.

The Foxes went into half time 3 – 0 down and looking for a bit of a miracle to come back but the 2nd half didn’t yield much better results within 5 mins the foxes had a 2nd yellow card for Joey and forced the foxes down to 10 men and although starting to make chances going forward were always kept on the back foot from the Dragons running in behind.

Eventually the Dragons got through again and scored in the 52nd minute and finally rounded out the result in the 73rd finishing off a 5 – 0 thrashing to open the Saturday B Grade’s first game.

It was a tough game for the Foxes in their first competitive hitout but with a break this weekend and next they have some time on the training park to fix the problems the cup round highlighted to better prepare them for the season.
